Oakland Academy’s Board of Directors conducts all business in open session in accordance with the Michigan Open Meetings Act (MCL 15.261 et seq.). Meeting notices, agendas, and minutes are posted here and at the school’s main entrance.

All meetings will be held at Oakland Academy located at 6325 Oakland Drive, Portage, MI 49024 in the Upper Elementary Resource Room. Meeting dates and times are listed in the approved Board Calendar. Dates and times subject to change.
Notice of any special, rescheduled, or emergency meeting is posted at the school’s main entrance and on this page at least 18 hours before the meeting, as required by the Open Meetings Act.
Agendas & Minutes
Agendas are posted at least 18 hours before each meeting. Approved minutes are posted within 5 business days of the meeting at which they are approved.

Board Members
Oakland Academy’s Board of Directors is appointed by Grand Valley State University, the school’s authorizer. Board members serve as volunteers and are not compensated.
To contact the Board, address correspondence to the Board Secretary through the school office. Individual board member contact information is not published; all correspondence is shared with the full Board.
Attending & Public Comment
All regular and special meetings of the Board are open to the public. Every meeting agenda includes time for public comment, and no advance sign-up is required.
- Arrive a few minutes early and sign the visitor log in the main office.
- When the President calls for public comment, state your name and address for the record.
- Comments are generally limited to three minutes per speaker so everyone who wishes to speak has time.
- The Board listens to all comments. Because items not on the agenda cannot be acted on at that meeting, the Board may refer your question to the administration for follow-up.
Landmark Academy will provide necessary reasonable auxiliary aids and services, such as signers for the hearing impaired or audio tapes of printed materials, to individuals with disabilities at the meeting or hearing upon 72 hours’ notice. Contact the school office at (810) 982-7210 to request accommodations.
Requests for public records under Michigan’s Freedom of Information Act should be submitted in writing to the school’s FOIA Coordinator.
